Emily Amey grew up in a small college town in rural Ohio. As a girl, she divided her days between getting down and dirty playing in the woods behind her house, and devouring her YM magazines and fantasizing about her future life in New York City.
She did move to NYC at the age of 20 and began studying metalsmithing at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She quickly found this was the perfect medium to convey the duality of her personality. Nature vs. City life, Hard Edged vs. Ultra Feminine.
She has the innate talent for taking organic elements and objects and putting a sophisticated urban twist on them. A piece of driftwood found off the coast of Chile becomes an earring. An ancient fossilized nautilus shell found in far off Siberia becomes a necklace. She finds a way to make ancient become modern, make effortlessness elegant, and transform mundane into one-of-a-kind.
She lives and works in Williamsburg Brooklyn the veritable hotbed of art and design and spends her days filing, sanding, and soldering her mostly one-of-a-kind pieces to order.
Her work can be found in the Sundance Catalog, ABC Carpet and Home in NYC , and among 30 other retailers world wide.
Fans of Emily's jewelry include Gisele Bundchen and Claire Danes, as well as numerous fashion editors and stylists. Her jewelry has been featured in Instyle, Lucky, GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
